They dressed up at Despicable Me 2, and they nailed it. I also need to add in a picture of our good friends from church. However, this is just a decision we have made for our own family. I am not legalistic about it and believe that there are a lot of Bible passages giving us freedom to make some of these choices. We head to a harvest party at our church, don’t decorate and always choose family friendly costumes.
While I love dressing up, and I grew up wanting to make my entire house look haunted, I have felt more conviction lately to move away from the scary and evil side. We landed on these allusive and yet familiar characters. We try to brainstorm as a family and almost did the Frozen theme, but the kids ended up moving away from that idea. So, we finally convinced him to be a leprechaun and told him he could carry his bow and arrow if he wished. He wanted to carry his nerf bow and arrow, and we considered making him Cupid, but he wasn’t keen on wearing a loin cloth. Corban has been a little hesitant about the leprechaun idea…actually, the dressing up idea all together. I have kids with opinions now to consider, and I’m wondering how long they’ll put up with me. I love trying to brainstorm what we might do, and my brainstorming tends to begin November 1st.
